With X-men, First Class coming near this summer 2011, fans of the movie franchise should now have something to get excited about. All X-men movies so far have featured an ensemble cast, and First Class is no exception. X-Men: First Class will also introduce a few new faces not seen in previous X-Men movies. Here are some of the stars we can expect to see:

Professor X: James McAvoy

A young Charles Xavier before stars in a suave role, teaming up with Magneto to try stop the cold war. Fans of the X-men movies may find it tough to recognize him at first, but young Charles Xavier here has plenty of hair and walks on his legs as comfortably as anyone else.

Played by James McAvoy, we see the highs and lows of Professor X’s relationship with Magneto and the founding of the X-Men legacy.

Magneto: Michael Fassbender

Erik Magnus

Almost the protagonist in his own right, any major X-men movie without Magneto is probably not worth half the ticket price. Michael Fassbender stars as Erik Magnus, best friend and subsequent enemy of Professor X. Fassbender nicely captures Magneto’s charisma and ambition, delivering a performance that keeps audiences looking for more. This is Magnet, before the Brotherhood, the one that all of us wants to find out about.

Mystique: Jennifer Lawrence

Raven Darkholmes

Another returning staple, Mystique, Raven Darkholmes is nowhere near the villain she was in previous X-Men movies. A teenage Mystique joined the X-men to harness her shape shifting abilities, only to find romance with Hank McCoy, known affectionately as the Beast and of course, wisdom from Magneto. Although Mystique’s ensuing defection over to the Brotherhood was not made clear, audiences get to explore the facets of her personality, that go deeper than merely the superficial villain she portrays herself to be. Mystique is played by a young Jennifer Lawrence, whose innocence and demureness is a marked contrast to Rebecca Romjin’s overt sex appeal and aggression.

Emma Frost: January Jones

Emma Frost

Emma Frost is a popular and familiar character in the X-Men series, and certainly one of the new faces in the movie. Busty, voluptuous, icy and cool, Emma Frost is a mean babe that has been an on and off member as well as villain in the X-Men series. January Jones plays the White Queen in First Class, and while her beautiful body will likely live up to the expectations of X-Men fans, her ability to portray Frost’s coldness and stiff attitude keeps us in anticipation.

Beast: Nicholas Hoult

Beast

Finally, everyone’s favourite genius blue beast makes an appearance. Nicholas Hoult’s nerdy looks add a nice complexion to the Beast we know; geeky, intelligent, and sensitive. As one of the original members of X-Men, beast has been missing in the original film trilogy. Now we get to see how Dr. Hank McCoy joined the School of Gifted Youngsters, as well as his short-lived romance with Mystique.
