It’s not been a week since the iPhone 4S’s launch but you can be sure every of the four million something folk who bought a 4S are going to be an iPhone 5. Check out why.

The following are speculations on the iPhone 5. Bear in mind there hasn’t been much official word on it yet – industry insiders are expecting it to be announced at next year’s Apple Worldwide Developer Event sometime in June 2012.

- 4G/Long Term Evolution (LTE) support

LTE is the technology expected to replace 3G, and Will Strauss, of market research firm Forward Concepts told CNet that “Apple is saving the iPhone 5 brand for the LTE version, and the new model won't arrive until the 4G LTE technology is ready to be used in smartphones, which won't be out until next spring.

- A quad core processor

Likely to be called the Apple A6, this Samsung processor is expected to be included in the iPhone 5, given that many other quad core handsets are debuting in 2012.

- iCloud sync

Cloud computing is the future, and there’s no doubt that Apple will be jumping onto the bandwagon by getting the iPhone to sync with the iCloud, for the best in wireless remote access of music from all Apple products around your house.

- 1GB of ram and voice assistant

You can definitely expect the voice assist – that’s SIRI in the 4S for you already – but the 1GB ram is something to hope for! Expect faster app swops and an improvement in the speed of general performance. Rumour has it that since the iPhone 5 was Jobs’ baby, there might be a variant of his voice for the Assistant.

- A better, 3D camera

Before the iPhone 4S came out, the tech world was abuzz with speculation that the iPhone 5 would have an 8 megapixel camera. But now that the 4S actually has it, it’s likely that the iPhone 5 will improve on that. Thetechlabs.com reported that Apple has, according to sources, been filing patents for 3D cameras.

Secret Tactics

- A larger screen

The latest incarnation, the 4S, already has a screen size of 3.5inches. It is possible for Apple to go bigger with the iPhone 5, with 3.7 inches, by making the phone wider and thinner. However other sources claim that Apple is sticking with the 3.5 inch screen, while others think it might go with a 4 inch screen.

- Battery life

Complaints are all over the internet now, of the iPhone 4S’s atrocious battery life. Based on this, it’s safe to say that the iPhone 5 will definitely take into consideration its predecessor’s shortcomings, and improve on them. Expect much more power out of your iPhone 5.

If those rumours aren’t enough to convince you that Apple is the way to go, then perhaps the idea that every person who bought a 4S is going to upgrade to an iPhone 5 might.
